The four-member boy group XLOV stands out from the crowd with its unusual concept. The group represents a gender-neutral style that shows through in their outfits as well as their performances and music videos. The name “XLOV” combines “X”, standing for “unknown”, and “LOV”, standing for incomplete love. The singers and their fans set out together on a journey to complete this love.

Come along and learn more about the story of XLOV!

PRE-DEBUT

The members of XLOV appeared on TV long before their debut and stole viewers’ hearts. In 2024, Rui, Haru, and Wumuti took part in the Mnet survival show Boys Planet, which aired from February to April 2023. All three were eliminated, Rui last, in episode 11, ranking 23rd.

For Wumuti, Boys Planet was already his third survival show, and not his last. He debuted back in 2017 in the Chinese boy group “SWIN”, formed on the show “Super Idol”. Wumuti left the group in 2018, though, and went on to try his luck on “Under Nineteen” (2018), “Boys Planet” (2023), and “Build Up: Vocal Boy Group Survivor” (2024).

Sadly, he narrowly missed out on winning each time, but he was rewarded regardless. In May 2024, Wumuti debuted in the project group “WATERFIRE”, which was formed on his most recent show, “Build Up”. He also released his first solo album, “You Make Me Better”, on June 30, once again proving his talent as a singer.

Wumuti’s journey with XLOV began before the year was even over, as he was introduced as the boy group’s first member on December 17.

CAREER

On January 7, 2025, XLOV debuted with the single album “I’mma Be” and its title track of the same name, co-written by Wumuti, among others. The music video already showed off the “genderless” concept: the members wore pearls on their faces, skirts over their pants, and unusual, aesthetic dance moves.

With this concept, XLOV took a risk, as it is very rare in K-pop and, if seen at all, was usually limited to solo artists. The risk paid off, as fans were thrilled. They praised XLOV for trying something new and, after just this one song, already had high hopes for the group’s future.

XLOV JAPAN PROMOTION TOUR - LOV: ENERGY - Poster

Less than 2 months after their debut, Wumuti, Rui, Haru, and Hyun held their first Japan tour, the “1st Premium Tour in Japan - X:Only”. From late February to late March, the guys played over 20 shows in Tokyo and Osaka. And that was just the beginning!

In May, the singers traveled to Japan once again for their second Japan tour, the “JAPAN PROMOTION TOUR - LOV: Energy”. This tour included over 10 concerts in Tokyo, Osaka, and Yokohama.

Half a year after their debut, it was finally time for their first comeback: on June 13, the 2nd single album “I One” was released, led by the title track “1&Only”. With this return, XLOV’s logo changed too. Originally, the heart was simply black; for the new album, it was set on fire. In one month, the CD sold nearly 55 thousand copies, more than twice as many as its predecessor “I’mma Be”. A sign of the boy group’s growing popularity!

As before, XLOV delivered a unique performance to match their genderless concept.

The boy group celebrated the glorious start of their career in August with their first compilation album “I Will”, which will include “I’mma Be” and “I One” alongside a previously unreleased song called “Kiss and Say Goodbye”. Like most of XLOV’s songs, this one was also co-written by Wumuti.
