About APT.
“Apt.” (“Apartment”) is a song by Rosé and Bruno Mars. It was released via The Black Label and Atlantic Records on October 18, 2024, as the lead single from Rosé’s debut studio album, Rosie (2024). The song was inspired by a popular South Korean drinking game called “Apateu,” known for its rhythmic chants. The playful nature of the game heavily influenced the song’s chorus.
Rosé explained: “APT is actually my favorite Korean drinking game that I play with my friends at home. It’s so simple, it puts a smile on your face, and it breaks the ice at any party. One night in the studio, I showed my team how to play the game. Everyone was fascinated, especially when I started the chant, so we played around with it and I said we should turn it into a song... and after Bruno got on the track, the rest was history!”
“Apt.” topped both the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts for nine weeks, making it the longest-running No. 1 song of 2024. In South Korea, the song stayed at the top of the Circle Digital Chart for nine consecutive weeks. Internationally, “Apt.” was the first song by a female K-pop solo artist to reach No. 1 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart, and the first Western song in over a decade to top the Billboard Japan Hot 100. The song also reached No. 1 in countries such as New Zealand, Germany, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Switzerland. It made history as the first song by a female K-pop solo artist to land in the top 10 of both the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and the UK Singles Chart.
The music video for “Apt.” further fueled the song’s success. With over 700 million views, it was the most-watched music video of 2024. It broke the record for the most views within the first 24 hours and maintained its dominance on streaming platforms throughout the year.
